ÉduConnect manages mobile sessions better than Arena in direct access, as its authentication mechanism was designed for modern browsers without reliance on third-party cookies.
For staff who regularly access i-Prof or academic webmail from their phone, using ÉduConnect instead of the direct Arena URL avoids most session expiration issues.
Arena Versailles Shortcut on Mobile Home Screen: Create a Reliable Direct Access
Adding Arena as a shortcut on the phone’s home screen may seem trivial, but the URL used determines the session behavior.
- On iOS, use Safari to open id.ac-versailles.fr/arena, then “Add to Home Screen” via the share menu. The created shortcut opens Arena in a Safari context that retains cookies between sessions
- On Android with Chrome, the same operation creates a shortcut that behaves like a Progressive Web App, with an isolated cookie container that can cause unexpected disconnections. Prefer adding via the three-dot menu > “Add to Home Screen” without checking “Open as window”
- Do not use the shortened URL (like acver.fr) for the shortcut: it adds an additional redirection that increases loading time and multiplies failures on weak networks
Consistently use the full URL id.ac-versailles.fr/arena for the shortcut to ensure a more stable connection, especially on mobile networks with high latency.
